Bid Round Highlights

The Ministry of Energy announced on June 23, 2020 the launching of its 3rd Offshore Bid Round (OBR3) for natural gas and oil exploration offshore Israel. OBR3 builds upon the growing activity in the Israeli EEZ, reflected by the success of OBR2 in which 12 new exploration licenses were awarded, the flow of first gas from the giant Leviathan fields in late 2019 and the continued appraisal and development activity in the Karish field offshore Israel.

 

 

Bid Zone

​In OBR3 the Ministry offers a single exploration block, ~257km2 in size, in the northern part of the Israeli EEZ. The offered block which comprises of the former Alon D license area, includes 2D and some 3D seismic coverage acquired by the operator of Alon D. The working period for block 72 includes two Drill-or-Drop decision points after 3 and 5 years and it may be extended up to 7 years from the date of award.
