Ministers of Energy meet in Jerusalem

​In a meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday, 21 February 2021, the two ministers agreed on the construction of a subsea gas pipeline from the Leviathan gas field to the liquefaction facilities in Egypt to enable the increase in gas exports to Europe through Egypt's liquefaction facilities in response to growing European demand for natural gas.

Minister of Energy Dr. Yuval Steinitz met today with Mr. Tarek El-Molla, Egypt’s Minister for Petroleum & Mineral Resources in Jerusalem

​In a meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday, 21 February 2021, the two ministers agreed on the construction of a subsea gas pipeline from the Leviathan gas field to the liquefaction facilities in Egypt to enable the increase in gas exports to Europe through Egypt's liquefaction facilities in response to growing European demand for natural gas.

Minister of Energy, Dr. Yuval Steinitz: "I am delighted to host my good friend, Egypt's Minister for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Mr. Tarek El-Molla. This meeting is a direct continuation of the excellent relations between us, and testimony to the successful cooperation on natural gas in particular and energy in general. We both founded the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) which brings together Arab and European countries and the State of Israel, and I very much thank Minister El-Molla for his leadership of the Forum. This is a historic visit and I consider myself very fortunate to host the Minister and his team in Israel."

Egyptian Minister for Petroleum & Mineral Resources, Mr. Tarek El-Molla: "This is my first visit to Israel, and I would like to thank Dr. Yuval Steinitz for his invitation. We maintain close cooperation on energy-related matters in general, and natural gas in particular. The good relations between us led to the establishment of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum. We hold meetings between our teams in order to increase and improve the cooperation between the countries in all aspects of energy, and we anticipate a fruitful visit."
