The beginning of the flow of natural gas from Leviathan and Tamar natural gas reservoirs to Egypt was announced by Israel and Egypt's energy ministers in the mid-January 2020.

This allows Israel to export its natural gas to Egypt's local market, and to Europe through Egypt's LNG facilities. The partnership is expected to be not only economically beneficial, but also to dramatically reduce air pollution in the area.
